About Pawleys Island

Pawleys Island, South Carolina is a 3.5 mile barrier island located 70 miles north of Charleston and just south of Myrtle Beach. The island boasts pristine, laidback, family beaches and is accessible by two causeways. Pawleys Island was originally settled by rice farmers who relocated their family and livestock from the rivers to the island during the summer months due to the threat of contracting malaria by the rivers and creeks. The island became a sort of retreat for the farmers and their families and continued to keep laidback culture to this day.

The mainland offers several world-class golf courses, fine dining, and your basic amenities. Some activities include crabbing, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. Visit the Hammock Shops of Pawley Island which consists of antique and gift shops, clothing boutiques, and restaurants. Also, Huntington Beach State Park is a short drive away and can provide for a lovely wildlife outing.
